COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's basketball team hosts the annual Terrapin Classic on Fri.-Sun., Dec. 28-30. The tournament will take on a new format as the event will happen over three days with local rivals Richmond and UMBC also visiting.

This year's three-day, round-robin tournament begins with Richmond and UMBC clashing Friday, December 28 at an earlier time than originally scheduled. Tip off is slated for a 1 p.m. start. Maryland then faces the Spiders on Sat., Dec. 29, then the Retrievers on Sun., Dec. 30. Both games featuring the Terrapins are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.

All three games will be played at Comcast Center. The Richmond-UMBC game is free to the public. Tickets for the last two days of the Terrapin Classic which features the Terps can be purchased at the Comcast Center Ticket Office or by calling 1-800-IM-A-TERP. Tickets are also available for purchase online at www.umterps.com.

Richmond is currently 5-5 on the season and hosts Albany on Dec. 19 before the Terrapin Classic begins. UMBC is 4-6 and travels to Towson on Dec. 19.

Maryland is ranked fourth in the Associated Press poll this week and fifth in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll, garnering a first-place vote by the coaches. The Terrapins are currently on an 11-day break from playing games, after playing 14 in a 31-game stretch, in which they came out 13-1. The Terps travel to James Madison on Thursday, Dec. 20 before returning home for the Terrapin Classic.
