PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The women's swimming and diving program wrapped up their first day of competition against Pittsburgh, Villanova, Missouri and Penn State.

Erin Holmes took sixth place in the 1650-yard freestyle to start the day off for the Terrapins.

The Terps also took sixth in the 200-yard medley relay. Kirsten Jones, Stephanie Parker, Nina Rossi and Kathryn Snedeker finished with a time of 1:50.30.

Jen Vogel finished first for the Terps in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.59. Blair Cross also competed, finishing sixth with a time of 58.09.

Maryland had three top-ten finishes in the 100-yard backstroke. Annie Fittin captured third with a time of 57.82, while Jackie Davidson (59.74) and Jones (1:00.74) took eighth and ninth, respectively.

Fittin also had a sixth place finished in the 100-yard freestyle (52.81).

Rossi and Holmes boasted a fifth and seventh place finish, respectively, in the 400-yard individual medley. Rossi finished with a time of 4:34.15, while Holmes swam a time of 4:38.71.

The Terps finished the day by taking third in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Fittin, Cross, Captain Emily Smoak and Maya Finkler swam a 1:35.61. Davidson, Snedeker, Jessalyn Crawford and Jen Vogel also competed for the Terps, finishing sixth (1:39.05).

In diving competition, Montana Puente finished in the 1-meter diving with a score of 149.10.
