COLLEGE PARK, Md. - With head coach Cathy Reese back on the sideline after delivering her third child Wednesday afternoon, the No. 2 Maryland women's lacrosse team overwhelmed No. 17 Dartmouth, 17-8, on March 15 at the Field Hockey and Lacrosse Complex. Sophomore Caitlyn McFadden recorded a career-high seven points in the win.

McFadden also picked up four ground balls and two draw controls for the Terrapins. Senior Dana Dobbie had a goal and two assists while dominating the draws with eight of the team's 21. Dartmouth secured just six in the game.

Seniors Katie Princiotto and Casey Magor each had two goals and an assist while senior Lauren Cohen, sophomore Amanda Spinnenweber, and freshman Laura Merrifield all had a pair of goals.

Maryland blew the game wide open immediately, scoring nine unanswered goals in the first 13:51. Dobbie won the game's first draw and McFadden fed Magor for a goal just 31 seconds in. The Terps then scored two goals in 16 seconds as McFadden found Cohen for Maryland's second goal and Magor went unassisted to put Maryland up three.

Spinnenweber added to the lead when she used a pass from Dobbie to find the back of the net and then Cohen snuck a wrap around shot from behind the cage past the goalie to push the scoring run to five.

The Terps' sixth goal was special as McFadden handled the ball on the right side of the fan. Dobbie slid to an open spot and McFadden dished to her. With her back to the cage, Dobbie fired from her side and beat the goalie.

Senior Kelly Kasper, McFadden, and Merrifield each scored a goal to close out the nine-goal run for Maryland.

The Big Green finally got on the board with 14:16 left in the half when Eliza Bennett used a pass from Kristen Barry to break through the Terps' defense. Junior Kate Faas got the goal back for Maryland but then Barry and Kate Labrum scored for Dartmouth to make the score 10-3 with 1:11 left.

McFadden added her second goal of the half and recorded her fourth assist, which tied a career high, in the last 44 seconds to give the Terps a nine-goal lead into the half. McFadden's fourth assist went to freshman Ellen Cook, the first goal of her career.

Much like in the first half, the Terps scored immediately off the opening draw, taking just nine seconds this time, as Magor found Princiotto for the goal. Princiotto scored her second goal in a row when she converted on a free position seven minutes later.

McFadden scored her third goal of the game on a free position with 19:46 left in the game to push the Maryland lead to 15-3.

Dartmouth went on four-goal run to cut the lead to 15-7 but that is as close as it would get. The Big Green used four different goal scorers during that span.

The Big Green (3-2) was led by Barry who had two goals and two assists while Bennett scored twice. Cate Goytisolo chipped in with a goal and an assist.

Maryland (6-1) will take Sunday off before heading to Baltimore to face No. 12 Johns Hopkins on Monday in a game televised nationally by ESPNU.
