COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 3 Maryland women's lacrosse team went down 2-0 early to No. 9 Georgetown, but the Terrapins responded with nine unanswered goals in the first half and never looked back in a 14-7 win on April 16 at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Senior Lauren Cohen scored four goals and added an assist while classmate Kelly Kasper had a goal and four assists. Senior Dana Dobbie chipped in with three goals and nine draw controls.

Kasper's four assists moves her into sixth place on the all-time Maryland list with 85. Cohen has now scored two or more goals in eight-straight games.

Senior Casey Magor and freshman Sarah Mollison both scored a pair of goals for the Terps in the win.

It was Georgetown who jumped on Maryland early with two goals in the first five minutes. Jordy Kirr went unassisted for the first tally and then dished out a helper to Patty Piotrowicz for the Hoyas' second goal at the 25:23 mark.

The Terps responded enormously though with nine-straight goals to end the half. Kasper scored the Terps' first goal with help from Cohen 21 seconds later to cut the deficit in half and then Dobbie went unassisted two minutes later to tie the game.

After Magor scored her first goal of the game, Cohen scored three-consecutive goals to push the lead to 6-2 with 17:50 left in the half. Dobbie scored two more goals before the half ended and freshman Brandi Jones scored as well.

Kasper assisted on three of the Terps' final five goals in the half.

Georgetown stormed out of the locker room in the second half and scored four-straight goals though to cut the deficit to four, 9-6, with 16:37 showing on the scoreboard. The Hoyas dominated possession in the first 15 minutes and did not allow the Terps a shot until midway through the first half.

Allie Hubschmann notched the first goal on a free position less than a minute in and then Kirr assisted on Molly Ford's goal three minutes later to make it 9-4. Two more free positions by Zan Morley closed the gap even more to four goals.

Maryland finally gained some possession and scored on its first shot in the half by Cohen with 14:59 to go. The Terps then rattled off four more goals to widen the gap to 14-6 to put the Hoyas away. Freshman Laura Merrifield scored in that span and Mollison posted her two goals in that run as well.

Georgetown (9-5) was led by Kirr with a goal and two assists while Hubschmann and Morley both scored twice.

Maryland (13-1) will wrap up its regular season home schedule on Saturday when it takes on Virginia Tech at noon at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. The Terps will honor their 10 seniors prior to the game.
