COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's swimming and diving team plays host to intrastate rivals Towson and UMBC Saturday. The meet is slated to begin at 1 p.m. at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.

Due to a high volume of athletic events on the University of Maryland campus this weekend, fans may park in the Terrapin Trail Garage for $15. Heavy traffic is expected due to the football game so those attending the Maryland swimming and diving meet Saturday are encouraged to plan accordingly. Please note the interactive campus parking map at the top of this release for further information.

The Terrapin women are off to a nice start this season, boasting a 3-1 record. After dropping Johns Hopkins, N.C. State and Duke to kick off the year, Maryland stumbled at North Carolina in its last outing Nov. 6. Senior Jen Vogel and sophomore Alisa Kurbatova continue to pace Maryland this season. In the Terps' last outing at North Carolina, Vogel captured the 100 fly (55.43) and the 200 IM (2:04.97) while Kurbatova led the Terps on the board, winning both the 1-meter (269.85) and 3-meter (297.75) dive.

UMBC is 1-1 in limited competition so far in 2009. The Retrievers topped Rider to open up the season but fell in its last outing at Navy. Tereza Kaplanova picked up America East Conference Swimmer of the Week honors after winning the 200 breast and 200 IM versus Rider in mid-October. Kaplanova took third place in the 200 breast last season at the conference championships.

Towson has won 12 consecutive dual meets heading into this weekend's action in College Park. The Tigers are 7-0 in this season including a sweep of George Mason, UNC-Wilmington and Delaware in the CAA Pod Meet last weekend. Towson is led by reigning CAA Swimmer of the Week Meredith Budner. Budner won the 200 IM, 400 IM and 500 free in the Tigers' last outing. Budner was an honorable mention All-American last season and her 4:55.19 in the 500 free stands as the 34th best time in the NCAA Division I this season.

Following Saturday's tri-meet, Maryland welcomes William & Mary, Navy, Richmond, Mary Washington, Villanova, Towson, Drexel and Connecticut to College Park for the 2009 Terrapin Cup Thursday, Nov. 19 - Saturday, Nov. 21.
