Junior Jen Vogel and sophomore Annie Fittin will represent the Maryland women's swimming and diving team this weekend at the NCAA Women's Championships in College Station, Texas.
Vogel will swim three events for the Terps including the 100 and 200 fly and the 200 IM. Vogel won the 200 fly at the ACC Championships in College Park, touching the wall at 1:55.81. She heads into that event ranked 12th in the country. The Hingham, Mass., native is 34th in the 100 fly (52.95) and 44th in the 200 IM (1:59.65). The 100 fly and 200 IM are scheduled for Friday while the 200 fly will take place Saturday.
Fittin will swim the 100 back for Maryland after finishing third in the event during the ACC Championships. The sophomore from Sea Girt, N.J. boasts the 29th-best time in the event (53.22). Fittin will race the 100 back on Friday.
The 2009 NCAA Women's Championships will be held on the campus of Texas A&M University and officially kick off on Thursday. Prelim swims begin at 11 a.m. with finals starting at 7 p.m. every night.
