Former University of Maryland star Shay Doron led her Israeli national team in scoring in its three-game showing at the EuroBasket Women's Tournament in Latvia this week, including a game-high 26 points in the opening contest versus Belarus.
The Israelis, however, dropped all three games and were eliminated after a narrow 73-70 loss to France on Tuesday.
Doron, Maryland's fifth all-time leading scorer, led all players with 26 points in Israel's opening game loss to Belarus, 81-76, on Sunday. She guided Israel to an eight-point halftime lead, but the team could not hold off Belarus after halftime.
Israel then fell to Italy in the second game of the tournament, 75-64, with Doron registering a team-best 14 points. In Israel's final game of the event, Doron scored 15 points versus France.
Doron was a three-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference selection during her Terrapin career from 2004-07 and was a starter on Maryland's 2006 national championship team.
