COLLEGE PARK, Md. - After a major road win against Virginia on Monday, the Maryland Terrapins return home to host Boston College Thursday, Jan. 14 in Comcast Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.

The Terps have won all 11 home games this season. They have continued to extend their program-record of consecutive home contests won to an unprecedented 47 games. The last time Maryland dropped a game at home was Feb. 18, 2007 when Duke defeated the Terps, 69-57.

The Terps (13-3 overall, 1-1 conference) came away with their first win over a ranked opponent this season after defeating the No. 21/19 Cavaliers 61-60 during ESPN2's Big Monday game. It was a night of character, showing what the young Terrapin squad was really capable of after suffering a loss to N.C. State earlier in the week. Maryland's defense held Virginia to just 30.8 percent from the field, the Cavaliers' second lowest shooting performance of the season. The last play of the UVA nail-biter showcased the determination of the Terps as three Maryland defenders surrounded senior Monica Wright and foiled her attempt to win the game in the remaining seconds.

On offense the Terrapins had particularly strong showings from senior Lori Bjork, sophomore Lynetta Kizer and freshman Dara Taylor. Bjork recorded a season-high 20 points, hitting a career high-tying six shots from beyond the arc. Kizer earned her fourth season and 13th career double-double with 19 points and a season-high 14 rebounds, 11 of those were defensive boards. Taylor also earned a double-double, the first of her career, with 10 points and 11 assists. The Wilmington, Del., native has already broken into the Maryland freshmen record books tallying 91 assists, good for the No. 8 spot. She also ranks second in the ACC in assists averaging 5.7 per game. Freshman Tianna Hawkins is another first-year player who is making her mark. She currently leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.7 boards a game. She is just 20 rebounds short of reaching the No. 10 spot in the freshman record books which shouldn't take long as Hawkins has pulled down double-figure rebounds seven times. Hawkins played one of her best games against UVA posting career-bests in steals (2), assists (2), blocks (3) and minutes (36).

Boston College (10-6, 1-0) is currently riding a three-game winning streak after taking wins over N.C. State, Dartmouth and Boston University. In the Eagles' triumph over the Wolfpack, BC scored 43 points in the first half, a season best. Aiding Boston College in their first conference win was senior center Carolyn Swords who recorded her 26th career and sixth consecutive double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. She also leads the team in points and rebounds averaging 15.5 and 10.9, respectively. Swords was a Preseason All-ACC selection.

Maryland dominates the overall series with Boston College winning all nine games the two teams have played. The Terps' most recent win over the Eagles came on Feb.27, 2009 in Comcast Center, 86-74.
