COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland is coming off two big conference wins over No. 23 Virginia and Boston College as they head to No. 10/11 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Sunday. Tip is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. ET and will be aired on the ACC Regional Sports Network which includes Comcast Sports Net, Fox Sports South and Sunshine Network.

The Terrapins (14-3 overall, 2-1 conference) took a 61-60 upset win over UVA in Charlottesville, Va. Maryland's tough defensive unit clinched the game in the last seconds as three Terps surrounded Preseason ACC Player of the Year Monica Wright and blocked her final attempt to capture a Cavalier victory. Senior Lori Bjork hit a career-high tying six three-pointers in the win to aid in a season-high 20 point performance. Sophomore center Lynetta Kizer earned her 13th career and second season double-double with 19 points and a season-best 14 rebounds at Virginia. Freshman Dara Taylor also earned a double-double with 10 points and 11 assists, the first of her career.

Maryland kept the high caliber of play going against Boston College as four players, Bjork, Kizer, and freshmen Tianna Hawkins and Diandra Tchatchouang all posted double-figure points. Hawkins also grabbed double-digit rebounds with 11 for a double-double. The Terrapin defense managed to shut down Preseason All-ACC selection junior Carolyn Swords of the Eagles. Swords was averaging 15.5 points a game and only managed six in 40 minutes. BC was leading the league in field goal percentage but was held to just 38.7 percent from the field.

As Maryland heads to North Carolina, the Tar Heels (13-3, 1-1) are returning home after a 79-64 road loss to league-member Virginia Tech. VT had the lead at halftime and came out firing in the second half on a 9-0 run. Chay Shegog scored 13 points off the bench for North Carolina, but leading scorer Italee Lucas had just nine points on 3-of-13 shooting, and Cetera DeGraffenreid was held to five points on 1-of-11. Prior to playing Virginia Tech, the Tar Heels defeated Georgia Tech in the ACC opener, 89-78. UNC had won eight straight games before they took on No. 1 Connecticut on the road and suffered a devastating 88-47 loss. North Carolina was predicted to win the ACC in preseason polls.

UNC leads in the all-time series with Maryland, 35-31. The Terps have won the last two contests, most recently taking a 95-84 victory during the 2009 ACC tournament on their way to the title. The Terrapins have only won eight games of the 27 played in Carmichael Auditorium.
