BROCKPORT, N.Y. - Josh Asper won the individual championship at 165 pounds and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler as the University of Maryland wrestling team finished third at the Brockport Oklahoma Invitational on Saturday.

 The Terps and head coach Kerry McCoy had 10 wrestlers place and three finish in the top-three as Jon Kohler finished runner-up at 141 pounds, Asper won at 16 and Mike Letts finished runner-up at 174. "Overall, I think we had a good weekend," said McCoy.

"We're getting better and will continue to get better every day. I was very excited for Josh [Asper] being named `outstanding wrestler'. He wrestled great."

In winning the title at 165 pounds, Asper won all four of his matches by at least eight points. Asper started his championship run with a 19-4 technical fall over American's Tanner Shaffer before topping Jake Vetter of Army, 12-2 and then Chase Nelson of Oklahoma, 17-8. In the final, Asper handled No. 7 Scott Winston, 11-3.

Jon Kohler used back-to-back pins of Buffalo's John Crisafulli and Army's Nic Bundy before narrowly falling to No. 1 Zack Bailey in a 3-1 bout to capture second place at 141 pounds.

At the 174 pound weight class, Mike Letts handled Clarion's Scott Joseph and then topped No. 19 Alex Caruso of Rutgers, 2-1. In the title match, Letts took No. 8 Tyler Caldwell of Oklahoma to overtime, before eventually falling, 3-1.

As a team, Maryland finished with 101.5 points, behind No. 9 Oklahoma's 145.5 and No. 23 Rutgers' 124.5.

Goodwin, Hartenstine, Derobertis take titles at Ursinus Fall Brawl

Frank Goodwin, Mark Hartenstine and Dominic Derobertis all won individual titles at their respective weight classes at the Ursinus Fall Brawl in Collegeville, Pa.

Hartenstine topped teammate Ben Dorsay, 2-1, allowing Maryland to finish 1-2 at 149 pounds.

At 184 pounds, Rob Fitzgerald used an overtime win, two pins and a major decision to finish in third.
