COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
George Mason shortstop Ryan Soares had two home runs and six RBI and seven Patriots had multiple-hit games as they defeated Maryland 20-6 Tuesday night.
Soares, who led the team entering the game with a .413 batting average, hit a two-run homer in the first to give the Patriots an early lead and hit a three-run shot in the seventh as part of a seven-run inning.
Leadoff hitter Jeremy Haas went 4-for-6 at the plate and the Patriots scored in all but two innings to complete a season sweep of Maryland.
Kris Mengle (3-1) pitched two innings and didn't allow a hit to earn the win as George Mason improved to 27-12 on the season.
Blair Delean (2-2) went five innings for Maryland (15-29), allowing seven runs on nine hits in the loss.
Jack Cleary, Dan Gentzler and David Poutier each had two-hit games to lead Maryland offensively, but the Terps were outhit 19-9 in the game.
The Terps play their final non-conference home game when James Madison comes to town at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
