COLLEGE PARK, MD. - Maryland head coach Brian Pensky today released the women's soccer schedule for the 2010 season. The Terps, which ended the 2009 season with a No. 11 ranking after making it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA tournament, will play eight teams that qualified for last year's tournament, including two-time defending national champion North Carolina.

"We are looking forward to our 2010 season," Pensky said. "We've put together another blend of high-quality opponents, both in and out of region. Our coaches and players will need to be well-prepared every time we step on the field if we hope to repeat or improve upon this past fall's success."

After preseason exhibitions against St. John's, another NCAA tournament team, and American, Maryland will open its regular season with a pair of home games at Ludwig Field against Iona (Aug. 20) and Missouri (Aug. 22).

The Terps will then hit the road and head to Knoxville, Tenn., for the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic. Maryland will face Tennessee on Aug. 27 and Kennesaw State, a 2009 NCAA tournament participant, on Aug. 29.

Maryland returns to College Park for a game against Stony Brook (Sept. 5) before heading back on the road to face Seton Hall (Sept. 8). The Terps will then return home to close out its non-conference slate with games against Delaware (Sept. 12) and George Mason (Sept. 17).

The Terps' ACC schedule starts out at home, with Maryland playing host to Duke (Sept. 26) and Virginia (Sept. 30). From there, the Terps will play three straight conference road games over a span of eight days. Maryland will visit Virginia Tech (Oct. 3), Boston College (Oct. 7) and NC State (Oct. 10) during that stretch.

After heading back to College Park to host Clemson (Oct. 14), the Terps will return to the road for a trip down Tobacco Road for their final conference road games against Wake Forest (Oct. 21) and North Carolina (Oct. 24).

Maryland returns to Ludwig Field to close out its 2010 ACC schedule, hosting Florida State (Oct. 28) and Miami (Oct. 31).

The ACC Tournament will be held Nov. 3-7. The 2010 NCAA Tournament will begin on Nov. 12, with the first four rounds being held at campus sites. The 2010 Women's College Cup is being hosted by NC State at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. The semifinals will be played on Dec. 3, with the finals scheduled for Dec. 5.
