ATLANTA - Senior Annie Fittin won the 50 free as Maryland rallied for 79 points Thursday on day two of the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.

Fittin captured the event in school-record setting fashion with a time of 22.11 to win her first individual ACC title. A captain from Sea Girt, N.J., she became the first ACC champion for Maryland since Jen Vogel in 2009. Fittin was followed closely behind by sophomore Megan Lafferty, who took second with a B-cut qualifying time of 22.35.

In addition to Fittin and Lafferty, freshman Elena Donald finished 18th (23.32) and senior Blair Cross took 23rd (23.60) in the 50 free C-final.

The Terps followed up a stellar showing in the 200 medley relay with another second-place finish in the 200 free relay, courtesy of Fittin, Lafferty, Cross and Ginny Glover. The squad once again broke a school record, touching the wall at 1:29.69.

Freshman Victoria Cassidy registered a B-cut time with a 12th-place finish in the 500 free (4:48.51). Martha VanLieshout was the Terps' top performer in the 200 IM, taking 16th (2:03.11).
