Courtesy of numerous record-shattering performances this week, Maryland took fourth in the 2011 Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Terps ended with 397 points for its second consecutive fourth-place showing. They capped the day with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay. The unit of Annie Fittin, Megan Lafferty, Jennifer Roberts, and Ginny Glover racked up a school-record B-cut time of 3:17.44.
Fittin led Maryland on the final day of competition with a school-record, second-place performance in the 100 free (48.79). Lafferty was third in the event, touching the wall with an NCAA B-cut time of 48.92.
Addison Koelle took fourth in the 200 fly (1:58.77) and Jennifer Roberts was eighth (2:02.03). Koelle's mark tallied in as a B-cut.
Glover capped a solid championship with a sixth-place finish in the 200 back (1:56.26). She set a school-record in her preliminary race (1:56.04) and tallied a B-cut showing. Alexa Hamilton touched the wall sixth in the 100 breast (1:02.16).
"We got better and better each session," head coach Sean Schimmel said. "We set out to do things we had never done before and we did just that. We spent a lot of time on the podium so it was extremely positive."
