  • Thursday's matchup will mark the 12th meeting between the Terrapins (16-0, 3-0 ACC) and the Hurricanes (12-3, 2-1). Maryland owns the series, 8-3, but the Hurricanes have won the last two meetings. On Feb. 20, 2011, No. 20 Miami beat No. 12 Maryland, 83-75, in Coral Gables in their only meeting last year. Lynetta Kizer and Tianna Hawkins led the Terrapins with double-doubles.

  • The Terrapins are coming off of two thrilling ACC wins over the weekend. On Friday, they rallied from a 20-point deficit to beat Georgia Tech 77-74 in the final seconds. Alyssa Thomas scored a key three-point play with 17.0 seconds left to finish with 24 points, including 18 in the second half.

  • On Sunday, Maryland beat No. 23 North Carolina 78-72 in overtime in Chapel Hill. Trailing by six points with 1:29 left to play, the Terrapins forced overtime when Thomas hit a reverse layup to beat the buzzer.

  • Thomas was named ACC Player of the Week Monday for her performance over the week. She averaged 23.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game over the week, as she also notched two double-doubles.

  • The Terrapins are 16-0 for the first time since the 2006-07 season. They started that year 18-0 for the best start in school history.

  • Maryland is ranked No. 5 in the latest Associated Press rankings and the ESPN/USA Today Division I Top 25 Coaches' poll. Miami is ranked No. 13 in Associated Press poll and No. 11 in the Coaches' poll.
