GREENSBORO, N.C. - University of Maryland sophomore Ashleigh Crutcher has been named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Volleyball Team, the league announced Wednesday.

Crutcher is the first Maryland volleyball player to be named to the all-conference team since Jade Brown earned second team honors in 2007.

The native of Raleigh, N.C., has started in all 31 matches for the Terps this season and leads the team in kills with 426, which is the 10th best single-season total in school history. In conference action, Crutcher is averaging 3.86 kills per set, which is the third highest average in the ACC.

This season, Crutcher has totaled 20 or more kills in four matches. The sophomore knocked down 20 against Georgia Tech on Oct. 26, and had 28 two days later against Clemson becoming the first Terrapin with 20 or more kills in consecutive matches since Maria DiLivio totaled 20 against Clemson on Oct. 31, 2003, and 20 against Georgia Tech on Nov. 1, 2003.

Her 28 kills against the Tigers are the most kills by an ACC player this season and are the most by a Maryland player since Lynnsy Jones had 33 against Florida State on Oct. 12, 2002.

Including Maryland, nine different teams are represented on the All-ACC Team, led by Miami's six student-athletes. Three from Florida State were recognized, followed by two from Duke and North Carolina and one from Clemson, Georgia Tech, NC State, and Virginia Tech.

Florida State's Ashley Neff has been selected as ACC Player of the Year. Duke's Ali McCurdy earned Defensive Player of Year honors, while North Carolina's Paige Neuenfeldt has been chosen as Freshman of the Year.

ACC Coach of the Year honors went to Miami's Nicole Lantagne Welch.
