SAN JOSE, Calif. - For the second consecutive meet, the Maryland gymnastics team posted solid scores on vault and floor and scored a 194.250 in a tri meet against California and San Jose State Friday evening at Spartan Gym. It is the fourth time this season the Terps (9-7, 3-3 EAGL) scored over a 194.000 and the third time in the last four meets.

The host Spartans won the meet with a 194.900. The Golden Bears placed third with a 192.475.

"We had a lot of adversity leading up to the meet and I couldn't be more pleased with the way the team responded," said head coach Brett Nelligan. "From top to bottom this was a real team effort and we were able to come away with a nice score on the road in a tough environment."

Junior Ally Krikorian scored a career-high 9.825 on beam after freshman Stephanie Giameo tallied a 9.825 to open the meet as the Terps totaled a 48.200. The totals tied for the third-highest scores of the meet and earned the two Terrapins a share of first place.

After tallying a season-high 49.125 at home last weekend, the Terps scored a 48.950 on floor in the second rotation. The 48.950 is the second-highest total of the season for the Terrapins. Sophomore Katy Dodds and sophomore Ebony Walters tied for third place with a 9.825. For Walters, it was a career-best performance.

In the third rotation on vault, the Terps scored a 48.825 led by Dodds. The Gaithersburg, Md., native tied for first with San Jose State's Thomasina Wallace with a 9.850 which tied for the second-highest score of the meet.

The Terps closed the meet on bars. Sophomore Karen Tang was the squad's top performer. Tang tallied a 9.750 which tied for third. Maryland completed bars with a 48.275.

Maryland is away to New Hampshire on Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. as part of a tri meet with Bridgeport.
