COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The Maryland volleyball team (3-0) opens its 2012 home schedule this weekend with the Maryland Invitational. The Terps welcome Binghamton, Ohio State and Seton Hall to Comcast Pavilion for the two-day tournament.
Friday night, the Terps take on Seton Hall at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, the squad faces Binghamton at 1:30 p.m. and concludes the invitational against the Buckeyes at 7:30 p.m.
Maryland is coming off an undefeated weekend at the Villanova Classic. The Terps dispatched of the host Wildcats, 3-0, in their first match and won the tournament with victories over New Hampshire and Robert Morris.

Parking Information
Due to the Maryland football game, fans attending the Maryland Invitational should park in the Terrapin Trail Garage. The cost to park in the garage is $15. After 3:30 p.m., is free at all surrounding lots including the Terrapin Trail Garage, but space may be limited.

Scouting the Terps
Maryland opened the season with a sweep of Villanova (recap | box score) led by junior Mary Cushman and sophomore Adreené Elliott. Cushman finished with a team-high 16 kills while Elliott tallied 12. The Terps held the Wildcats to a .143 hitting percentage.
Saturday morning, Maryland and New Hampshire played a five-set thriller (recap | box score). After winning the opening set, the Wildcats took the next two and were in control of the fourth set before the Terps mounted a comeback with a strong defensive effort. After allowing New Hampshire to hit .242 and .200 in the second and third sets, respectively, the Terps held New Hampshire to a -0.04 hitting percentage the rest of the way. Sophomore Ashleigh Crutcher led the team with 13 kills and senior Remy McBain recorded her first double-double of the season (27 Assists, 17 Digs).
Maryland closed the day with a sweep of Robert Morris (recap | box score). Freshman Kamrin Gold made a splash with a team-leading 11 kills, while freshman Mackenzie Dagostino finished with 22 assists to go along with three service aces.
Scouting the Bearcats
The Bearcats opened the season at the Boston College Tournament going 1-3. Their lone win coming against Fordham in three sets, while dropping matches to Boston College, Siena and Texas Tech.
Iva Partaleva is the team's primary attack option. She leads the team in kills (56) and total attacks (160) through four matches. She is averaging 4.00 kills per set.
Scouting the Pirates
The Pirates opened their season last weekend at the JMU Days Inn Classic. They picked up two 3-1 victories over Appalachian State and James Madison.
The Pirates feature a pretty balanced attack with three players with 25 or more kills. Stacey Manthorpe leads the team with 30 kills.
Seton Hall is holding its opponents to a .120 hitting percentage and is averaging 2.7 blocks per set.
Scouting the Buckeyes
The Buckeyes began the season No. 24 in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll, but dropped out following a five-set loss to No. 17 Oregon. Prior to the defeat to the Ducks, Ohio State picked up wins over Houston and Toledo.
Emily Danks and Mari Hole are the Buckeyes two primary hitters. Danks and Hole are tied for the team lead in kills with 42. In the three matches, Ohio State converted close to 30 percent of its attack attempts (.295 hitting percentage).
Head Coach
Tim Horsmon
Tim Horsmon is in his fifth season in charge of the Maryland volleyball team. With the Terps' victory over Villanova, Horsmon won his 50th career game at Maryland.
Terrapin Invitational Success
This is the third season the Terps have played host to the Terrapin Invitational. The Terps are 5-1 all-time in the competition and went 3-0 last season.
Honored Terps
Sophomore Adreené Elliott took home MVP honors at the Villanova Classic. In three matches, the Winston-Salem, N.C., native tallied 26 kills and 13 total blocks. Elliott finished the weekend with a .353 hitting percentage.
Junior Sarah Harper and freshman Kamrin Gold joined Elliott on the all-tournament team. Harper finished with 49 digs, while Gold tallied 18 kills including 11 against Robert Morris.
Fresh Faces
The Terps welcomed seven newcomers to the squad this season. The seven-member class was given highest honorable mention honors by PrepVolleyball.com. The 2012 recruiting class included two top-50 student-athletes in Mackenzie Dagostino and Kelsey Hrenbenach.
Record Watch
Junior Sarah Harper is 13 digs shy of moving past Lindsay Davey (908) into 10th all-time in Maryland history.
Senior Remy McBain ranks fifth in program history with 2,705 assists. She trails Aimee Huddleston for fourth all-time by 865 assists.
