ATLANTA, Ga. - The Maryland volleyball fell in three sets (25-15, 25-18, 25-17) to Georgia Tech Sunday afternoon at O'Keefe Gymnasium. Georgia Tech held the Terrapin offense to a .020 hitting percentage.

Offensively, the Terps (9-5, 1-2 ACC) were led by sophomore Ashleigh Crutcher and junior Mary Cushman. Both players tallied six kills. Freshman Kamrin Gold had five kills.

Senior Remy McBain knocked down three kills, and had 11 assists and seven digs. Junior Sarah Harper led the team with 12 digs.

Two Yellow Jacket blocks helped Georgia Tech gain a 4-0 lead right out of the gate. The Yellow Jackets continued to apply the pressure as they increased their lead to 10-4 until consecutive kills by Gold and McBain, and a combined block by Cushman and sophomore Adreené Elliott cut the Georgia Tech lead to three points.

After a Yellow Jacket kill briefly stunted the Terrapin run, back-to-back kills by Cushman and a Maryland block brought the Terps within one point at 11-10. But Georgia Tech seized control of the set and scored six of the next eight points to earn a 17-12 lead. The Yellow Jackets went on to win the set 25-15.

The Terps bounced back early in the second set and jumped out to an 8-4 advantage. A kill and a service ace from McBain put Maryland up 10-5, but after the Terps went up 11-5 following a Yellow Jacket error, Georgia Tech scored the next four points to force a Maryland timeout. Georgia Tech gained the momentum following the stoppage and went up 18-15 and went on to win the set 25-18.

Following the intermission, the Yellow Jackets scored seven of the first 10 points. The Terps cut the lead to one point on three occasions, but could not get over the hump. At 13-11, the Yellow Jackets went on a 4-1 run and pulled away for the win.
