COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The ninth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will honor seniors Tianna Hawkins and Caitlin Adams prior to Sunday's 2 p.m. game vs. Wake Forest at Comcast Center as part of the annual senior day recognition.

The Terps-Demon Deacons matchup will be shown live online for a fee on TerpsTV Premium and the broadcast will include the senior recognition ceremony.

Hawkins has led the ACC in scoring all season long and averages 18.6 points per game. She is second in rebounding with 9.4 per contest. The senior recently broke the 1,000-rebound mark and is third on Maryland's all-time list. She currently has 1,500 career points.

Adams joined the Terrapins (22-6, 13-4 ACC) in January. She played on the Maryland volleyball team in the fall, then joined the women's basketball squad. She's seen time in nine games and has been a valued contributor throughout her time.

The Terps outscored No. 24 Florida State by 17 points in the final minutes of a furious comeback Thursday, but fell just short, 72-71. Florida State led by 17 at 64-47 with 4:31 to go, then junior Katie Rutan hit three to spark a 24-7 run over the final four minutes of the game. The Terrapins held the Seminoles to one basket in the last 6:27 of the game.

Rutan went 6-for-10 from outside the arc for a game-high 24 points. Alyssa Thomas added 17 points, including six in the final spurt, and 14 rebounds. Tianna Hawkins notched 16 points.

The Demon Deacons (12-17, 5-12) fell to Virginia Tech, 62-52, Thursday night. Maryland won the two teams' earlier meeting, 73-63, in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Feb. 8. Hawkins and Alyssa Thomas each scored 23 points and Malina Howard added 12 in the win.

After Sunday's game, the Terrapins will wait to find out their seeding for next week's ACC Tournament in Greensboro, N.S. Maryland is currently third in the league and is one game behind North Carolina (26-4, 14-3). The seedings and game times for the ACC Tournament will be announced Sunday evening. The Terps have locked up a first round bye for the eighth time in head coach Brenda Frese's 11 years and third straight year. They will play Friday.

Maryland won the program's 10th ACC title last year as the No. 3 seed with a 68-65 win over fourth-seeded Georgia Tech. ACC Tournament MVP Alyssa Thomas scored 29 points in the championship game to lift the Terps.
