COLLEGE PARK, Md. -
The No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team steps away from College Park for a midweek match at Towson Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Maryland (11-0, 3-0 ACC) used a second-half rally to down No. 19 James Madison its last time out. Alex Aust recorded nine points on four goals and five assists to lead the Terps. She moved up to No. 4 on the Terps' career assists list with 112.
Towson is searching for its second win this season and head into Tuesday's contest with a 1-6 overall record.

Scouting The Terps
· Maryland heads back on the road for a match at Towson Tuesday at 7 p.m.
· The Terps will have a mix of midfielders and attackers on the attack this season and the unit will be led by senior All-American Alex Aust. Aust was tremendous down the stretch for Maryland, including an epic performance in the ACC tournament. The Sterling, Va., native was the team leader in assists (52) and points (96) and will be called upon to be the main distributor again in 2013.
· Maryland's deepest position is certainly the midfield where it returns eight players from last year's squad including all-everything Schwarzmann, who spent the majority of the offseason training with the U.S. women's national team in preparation for the 2013 FIL World Cup.
· The Maryland defense will be led by reigning IWLCA National Defender of the Year Iliana Sanza. Sanza stepped out of the shadow in her junior campaign to lead a youth-laden defense back to the final four.
· The Terps will have a large void to fill in the cage after the graduation of four-year starter Brittany Dipper. Senior Kasey Howard and redshirt sophomore Abbey Clipp will compete to fill the vacancy.

Scouting The Tigers
· Towson is seeking its second win of the year when it hosts Maryland Tuesday.
· Towson is averaging 8.43 goals per game but surrendering 11.14.
· Sarah Maloof leads the squad with 20 points on eight goals and 12 assists. Kelly Custer is the lone Tiger with double-digit goals (12). A total of 12 player have tallied a goal for Towson in 2013.
· Karri Ellen Johnson scored five goals and Alex Aust dished four assists to lead Maryland past Towson 13-3 last March.

· Alex Aust tallied nine points as the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team rolled to its 11th straight win with an 18-8 victory against No. 19 James Madison Saturday.
· Maryland was led in scoring by Aust, who tallied four goals in addition to five assists. Kristen Lamon and Halle Majorana each netted hat tricks.
Dominance. Period.
· Maryland has won all 11 of its game by at least five goals.
· The Terps are defeating opponents by an average of 8.72 goals per game and have dropped four foes by 10 or more goals.
Schwarzmann Snags ACC Weekly Honor
· Katie Schwarzmann was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, announced Tuesday.
· Schwarzmann was key in No. 1 Maryland's defense on the weekend as the Terps held back-to-back opponents to a combined eight goals on just 16 shots. Schwarzmann marked Boston College's Mikaela Rix, holding her to one shot and zero goals in the 13-5 win over the Eagles.
· The native of Sykesville, Md., was also tasked with defending No. 18 Stony Brook's Demmianne Cook, who entered the week as the nation's leading goal scorer. Schwarzmann held Cook without a goal or shot in an 8-3 victory. The reigning Tewaaraton Award winner also added four goals and two assists on the weekend.
Defense is Electric in Wins at Boston College, #18 Stony Brook
· No. 1 Maryland held opponents to a mere eight goals in a pair of wins at Boston College and No. 18 Stony Brook.
· The Terps defeated the Eagles 13-5 for their third ACC win of the year Saturday and stymied Stony Brook 8-3 Sunday.
· Taylor Cummings led the Terps with four goals against BC while Katie Schwarzmann tallied a hat trick vs. the Seawolves.
Balanced Attack Leads Terps Past #7 Penn State
· A total of 10 Terrapins registered at least one goal Saturday as the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team handled No. 7 Penn State 20-10 at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
· Maryland was led in scoring by Alex Aust and Brooke Griffin who tallied four goals apiece as the Terps turned in one of their most complete performances of the young season. Aust added four assists and now has 38 points in the last four games. The senior is one of only eight players in program history to record 100 assists.
· Freshman Taylor Cummings added five points on two goals and three assists.
Aust Snags ACC Weekly Honors Again
· Maryland attacker Alex Aust has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her work against UMBC and Penn State.
· Aust, the reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week, notched 19 points in a pair of wins against UMBC and No. 7 Penn State. Against the Retrievers, the senior from Sterling, Va., racked up a career-best 11 points - one shy of the Terrapin single-game record - including a program record seven assists.
Potent Offense
· Maryland is outscoring foes an incredible 182-86 this season. The Terps are averaging 16.6 goals per game.
· The offense has tacked 20 goals on the scoreboard twice in 2013.
Quick Shooters
· Maryland has scored first in eight of 11 games in 2013.
· Three times the Terps have scored within the first 45 seconds of the game, including twice with less than 20 seconds elapsed.
Aust Racks up ACC, National Honors
· Maryland attacker Alex Aust was named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week and Nike National Player of the Week for her effort against Virginia and Hofstra.
· Aust racked up 19 points in two games to help No. 1 Maryland stay perfect in 2013. The senior tallied five goals and five assists as the Terrapins defeated No. 6 Virginia 18-10 on the road for their third-straight win over a top-10 foe. The 10-point total is tied for the third highest in Maryland single-game history.
Terps Rout #6 Virginia on the Road
· Fueled by a career-high 10 points from senior Alex Aust, the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team defeated No. 6 Virginia 18-10.
·Aust tallied five goals and five assists - tying the third-highest point total in Terrapin single-game history - as Maryland dropped its third straight top-10 ranked foe. Sophomore Kristen Lamon added a career-best four goals.
·The Terps have now scored 15 or more goals in each of their four games this season. Taylor Cummings boasted a team-high seven draw controls as Maryland picked up its seventh straight win over the Cavaliers.
Aust-some!
· Alex Aust has been downright awesome in 2013, tallying a massive 72 points on 37 goals and 35 assists.
· The senior has 222 points in her career and her 112 assists rank fourth all-time in Maryland career annals.
· She nearly beat her freshman point total (9g, 3a) versus UMBC alone (4g, 7a) this season. She had more points through six games in 2013 (43) than she did her entire sophomore season (42).
Road Warriors
· Six of Maryland's first 11 wins this season have come on the road.
Terps Drop #4 Duke in Home Opener
· Brooke Griffin notched three goals and two assists to lead the No. 2 Maryland women's lacrosse team past No. 4 Duke 15-6 at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex.
·The Terps were sparked by a 9-2 first-half advantage and ended the home opener with five unanswered goals to stay unbeaten in 2013. In addition to Griffin, Katie Schwarzmann, Alex Aust, Taylor Cummings, and Beth Glaros each added two goals to lead the offense.
Griffin Named ACC Player of the Week
· Maryland midfielder Brooke Griffin was named Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week Tuesday for her work in the Terps' victory against No. 4 Duke.
· Griffin, a redshirt sophomore from Annapolis, Md., tallied a game-high five points on three goals and two assists to help the Terps remain perfect in 2013 and drop its second-consecutive top-five ranked opponent.
Maryland Cruises at #2 Syracuse
· Maryland women's lacrosse team picked up its first marquee win of the season with a 19-11 victory at then-No. 2 Syracuse at the Carrier Dome.
· Katie Schwarzmann tallied a career-high seven goals to lead Maryland to another dominant offensive performance. Freshman Taylor Cummings added five goals and a game-high six draw controls. Alex Aust boasted her second four-goal showing of the year.
Schwarzmann Has a Day in the Dome
· Senior Katie Schwarzmann had little trouble adjusting to the dome environment, boasting a career-best seven goals against Syracuse.
· The midfielder is now fourth all-time in career goals with 198. She's averaging nearly a hat trick per game for the top-ranked Terps.
Howard at Home in Cage
· Kasey Howard has been steady as a rock at goalie for Maryland this season.
· The first year starter has allowed 75 goals while tallying 63 saves in 2013. She's recorded double-digit saves three times, including a career-best 14 against No. 7 Penn State.
Terps Sweep ACC Weekly Awards
· Maryland midfielder Katie Schwarzmann and goalkeeper Kasey Howard were named Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, for their work against Syracuse.
· Schwarzmann was also named Nike National Player of the Week.
Four Terps Land on Tewaaraton Watch List
· Alex Aust, Kelly McPartland, Iliana Sanza and Katie Schwarzmann represent Maryland on the 2013 Tewaaraton Watch List, announced Friday.
· Both lists will be narrowed to 25 men's and women's nominees in late April. In mid-May, five men's and five women's finalists will be announced. These finalists will be invited to Washington, D.C. for the 13th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony, May 30 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian.
2013 - The Year of the Senior
· Maryland boasts eight seniors in 2013.
· The class is led by returning IWLCA National Midfielder of the Year Katie Schwarzmann and IWLCA National Defender of the Year Iliana Sanza.
· Other returning senior starters include Alex Aust and Melissa Diepold.
Three Terps Named IL Preseason All-Americans
· Katie Schwarzmann, Iliana Sanza, and Alex Aust have all been named Inside Lacrosse Preseson First Team All-Americans.
· Schwarzmann scored in every game in 2012 and led the Terps with 72 goals, the fifth-highest mark in single-season history at Maryland.
· Sanza started every game for the nation's fourth-ranked defense. She led the Terrapins in ground balls and caused turnovers and was third in draw controls. Against ACC opponents, Sanza tallied 11 ground balls, 10 draw controls, and 11 caused turnovers.
· Aust had a breakout campaign in 2012. She racked up five or more points in 10 games in 2012 and was the Terrapin leader in assists (52) and points (96).
She's BACK!
· 2012 Tewaaraton winner Katie Schwarzmann returns for her final season in College Park.
· The two-time captain hopes to lead the Terps back to the final four for a fifth straight season and bring the national championship back to College Park for the first time since her rookie season in 2010.
Terps and Team USA - A Winning Combination
· Caitlyn McFadden and Katie Schwarzmann will represent the University of Maryland as members of the 18-player Team USA roster at the 2013 FIL World Cup.
· Schwarzmann, a senior midfielder and the reigning Tewaaraton winner, is one of only two current collegiate players on the roster, joining Danielle Etrasco from Boston.
· McFadden, a former Tewaaraton winner and current assistant coach with the Terps, was a midfielder on the 2009 national team which won gold in Prague.
· Sophomore Kelly McPartland also spent extensive time with the national team this offseason.
Defense Remains Intact
· All four starters from Maryland's stellar defense in 2012 will return this season.
· Led by reigning IWLCA National Defender of the Year Iliana Sanza, the Terps will hope to jump start one of the top offenses in the country again this season.
· Also returning is senior Melissa Diepold and sophomores Megan Douty and Shanna Brady.

· The Terps have won all five games in which they have played an opponent ranked No. 1 or 2 at home in the past five seasons. The Terps are 206-16 in College Park dating back to 1990 with 13 perfect seasons in that span.
