1999 NCAA Champions
It took another six years for Maryland to hoist the national championship trophy for the third time, winning the 1999 championship with a 2-1 victory over Michigan in Boston, Mass. Freshman Carissa Messimer scored the game-winning goal as time expired in the first half to give the Terps the victory. Keli Smith scored the Terps' first goal as she collected a loose ball and sent it past the Wolverine goalie with 10:06 remaining in the first half. Messimer scored the game-winner at the 0:00 mark as time expired in the first half.

Missy Meharg is named National Coach of the Year for the third time in her career. Maryland establishes school-records for most victories (24), fewest losses (one), highest winning percentage (.960), and goals scored (127).
