Tim Horsmon has put together one of the top coaching staffs in Division I volleyball in Ryan McGuyre and
Krista Valdivia.
Ryan McGuyre joined the coaching this past offseason after a successful stint as the men's and women's volleyball coach at California Baptist where he coached the men's and women's programs to a combined eight NAIA national championships.
In 12 seasons as a women's coach, McGuyre, the 2011 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA)/NAIA Women's Volleyball National Coach of the Year, has amassed 309 victories, 249 of which came in his time at California Baptist. In 2004 and 2005, McGuyre won back-to-back national titles with the Lancers.
McGuyre was voted the 2010 AVCA/NAIA Men's National Coach of the Year and has won a total of four NAIA Volleyball Tournament Coach of the Year awards. During his tenure, McGuyre coached one NAIA Women's National Player of the Year, six different NAIA Men's National Tournament MVPs and two straight AVCA/NAIA Men's National Players of the Year.
Krista Valdivia, who was an All-American setter for Michigan Tech from 1993-96, has 12 years of coaching experience, 10 as a head coach at Michigan Tech. She led the team to two NCAA appearances and coached 20 all-conference players.
Under Valdivia's guidance, the Huskies competed in the NCAA Championships for the first time since 1997 after earning an at-large invitation to the Great Lakes Regional in Hillsdale, Mich.
