Terps Cruise Past Wildcats at Maryland Invite

The Maryland women's volleyball team came out in full force Friday night at Comcast Pavilion where they dominated the New Hampshire Wildcats in three sets.

On the offensive, Mary Cushman led the way for the Terps (6-1) with 10 kills and Ashleigh Crutcher contributed eight of her own.  Defensively, Crutcher also added 14 digs.

The first two sets mirrored one another, as they both started out close, but the Terps pulled ahead in the middle of the set. The Terps closed out the first set with a 15-6 run led by Crutcher who posted three kills, the last of which clinched a  25-15 victory.

The second set included a 17-8 run of its own thanks to impressive offensive efforts from the whole team. In a span of five plays, Maryland had three different players contribute a kill. The Terps won the set 25-19.

The Terps took a more proactive approach in the third set. After surrendering the first point, Maryland would take the lead, sparked by a 6-0 run that included an ace from Amy Dion, and it would never look back. Maryland took the set 25-19.

The action continues for the Terps tomorrow afternoon versus the George Mason Patriots at 1:30 and the Maryland Invitational concludes with a match between the Terps and Villanova Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.
