COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Fresh off its solid showing at the Champion Challenge last weekend, the Maryland women's lacrosse team was tabbed at No. 2 in the Brine Media Poll, Inside Lacrosse announced Monday.
Maryland was 22-1 last season while capturing its unprecedented fifth straight Atlantic Coast Conference crown. The Terps will be without two-time Tewaaraton Award winner Katie Schwarzmann but the cupboard is far from bare with seven starters returning, including Inside Lacrosse National Player of the Year candidate Taylor Cummings.
In addition to Cummings, Brooke Griffin was pegged to IL's Preseason First Team All-American team. Junior defender Megan Douty landed second team honors and senior midfielder Beth Glaros and sophomore defender Alice Mercer earned a spot on the third team.
