COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's soccer team (5-4-4/3-2-3 B1G) hosts its final two home games of the 2014 season this weekend when it welcomes Northwestern and Illinois to Ludwig Field for the first time. The Terps play the Wildcats at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17 before celebrating "Senior Day" vs. the Illini on Sunday, Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. Seniors Shade Pratt and Cory Ryan will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
• Maryland is 2-1-3 in its past six matches, including a pair of one-goal wins, a pair of 0-0 draws, a 1-1 tie and a one-goal loss in overtime.
Senior Shade Pratt and junior Shannon Collins share the team lead with six points. Pratt's six come on a team-best three goals, while Collins has a team-best six assists. Overall, 10 different Terps have scored goals in 2014. Junior Rachelle Beanlands has started all 13 games in goal and has a 0.93 goals-against average with five shutouts.
pink game
• The Maryland-Northwestern game on Friday will be the annual "Pink Game" to help raise awareness for breast cancer. Among the promotions going on at Ludwig Field on Oct. 17 are a silent auction featuring items from Under Armour, pink ribbons being made available by Zeta Tau Alpha and fans can make pledges for in-game achievements.
• Proceeds from the evening's promotions will benefit Headers For Hope, which, according to its website, "was established in honor of every individual who has been diagnosed with cancer; every family member who has held the hand of their loved one being treated for cancer; and all friends acting as a support system to someone who has been told the news they have cancer. Unfortunately, cancer more often than not hits home, which means this foundation was established for you."

Parking Information
• General Information: After 4 p.m. on weekdays and on weekends, there is no charge for parking in Lots Z1 or 1b or in Regents Drive Garage. Lots R2 and R3 are limited to vehicles displaying current valid permits for the respective lots at all times. The Stadium Drive Garage is closed on weekends.

Scouting the wildcats
• Northwestern is 5-7-2 overall this season and is 1-6-1 so far in conference play. The Wildcats are coming off of a 2-0 home loss to No. 12 Wisconsin on Oct. 12.
• Sophomore forward Addie Steiner leads the offense with 17 points on eight goals and one assist. Five Wildcat players are tied for the team lead with two assists. Freshman Lauren Clem has started all 14 games in net for Northwestern and has posted a 1.11 goals-against average with four shutouts.
• Head Coach Michael Moynihan is in his third season as the head coach at Northwestern and has compiled a 15-31-6 (.346) record. Overall, Moynihan has been a head coach for 18 years, with 15 seasons as the head coach at Milwaukee, and has an overall record of 208-115-44 (.627).
Scouting the illini
• Illinois is 9-5-0 overall this season and is 4-4-0 so far in conference play. The Illini have lost their last three matches, allowing two goals in each of the three defeats. Illinois plays at Rutgers on Friday, Oct. 17 before traveling to College Park for Sunday's match.
• Redshirt senior Jannelle Flaws is the Big Ten leader with 32 points on a conference-best 15 goals and two assist. Flaws is also tops in the Big Ten in points-per-game (2.29), goals-per-game (1.07) and is second in shots-per-game (4.57). Junior midfielder Nicole Breece leads the Illini with five assists. After splitting time in the first two matches of the season, sophomore Claire Wheatley has started the past 12 games in net for Illinois and has posted a 0.95 goals-against average with four shutouts for the season.
• Head Coach Janet Rayfield is in his 14th season as the head coach at Illinois and has compiled a 160-94-25 (.618) record. Overall, Rayfield has been a head coach for 20 years, including a stint at Arkansas from 1993-98, and has an overall record of 205-158-32 (.559).

133 And Counting at Ludwig Field
• The Terps won their 100th match at Ludwig Field with a 6-0 victory over Iona on Aug. 20, 2010. Since its opening in 1995, Ludwig Field has proved to be a tremendous home-field advantage for the Terps women's soccer team. All-time Maryland is 133-54-22 (.689) at Ludwig Field.
Collins Climbs Assists Chart
• With her assist in the Terps' 2-1 win over Purdue on Oct. 2, junior Shannon Collins moved into a tie for 16th on the all-time assists list with Kelly Amonte (1992-95) and Jasmyne Spencer (2008-11), who also had 14 career assists.
Terps In Overtime
• Maryland has played in 103 overtime games in its 28-year history. The Terps' all-time record in those overtime games is 29-27-47 (.510).
• This season, Maryland is 0-1-4 in overtime with the a 1-1 draw at Navy on Sept. 8, a 0-0 tie vs. Michigan State on Sept. 21, a 4-3 loss in the first OT at Nebraska on Sept. 28, a 0-0 tie with Indiana on Oct. 5 and a 1-1 tie at Ohio State on Oct. 11. In 2013, the Terps were 1-1-0 in overtime games, winning 2-1 at Clemson on Sept. 12 and falling to Boston College, 1-0, on Oct. 27.
• Maryland has already tied the school record for most ties in a season with four, which was a mark previously reached in 2004 and 2006.
• The school record for most overtime games in a season is eight, which was set in 2007 and 2004. The 2004 team, which advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16, was 2-2-4 in OT, while the 2007 team was 1-4-3.
Non-Conference Success
• Dating back to its 10-0 win over Mount St. Mary's in 2008, Maryland has lost only six times in its last 49 matches vs. non-conference opponents. The Terps have outscored its non-conference opposition 130-31 in those 49 matches.
• The Terps recorded 20 straight wins over non-conference foes before tying Georgetown, 1-1, in second round of the NCAA tournament in 2010. Maryland is now 36-8-5 (.786) in its last 49 non-conference games. The Terps had been unbeaten in 31-straight non-conference games prior to losing, 1-0, at Oklahoma State in the Sweet 16 of the 2011 NCAA tournament.
Maryland In Ludwig Field Openers
• Ludwig Field opened in 1995 and Maryland has enjoyed remarkable success at the venue (see below). But even that success pales in comparison to how the Terps have fared in home openers at Ludwig Field.
• Since 1995, Maryland is an astounding 15-2-3 (.825) in home openers at Ludwig Field. All-time, including the first eight seasons when the Terps played at Denton Field, Maryland is 18-7-3 (.696) in home openers.
• Maryland is 7-0-0 in home openers since 2008 and has outscored its opposition 32-0 in those six matches. Prior to that the Terps were 0-0-3 from 2005-07 with 0-0 double-OT ties against Towson in 2005 and 2006 and Eastern Kentucky in 2007.
• The only two losses the Terps have sustained in home openers at Ludwig Field came in 2003 (a 3-0 loss to No. 13 Penn State) and 2004 (a 2-0 loss to Virginia Tech).
Maryland Picked Third In Preseason Big Ten Poll
• Maryland was picked to finish third in the Big Ten when the conference released its annual preseason coaches' poll on Aug. 13. Penn State, which has won the last 15 of the last 16 Big Ten titles, was picked to finish first, followed by Wisconsin and the Terrapins. Nebraska, the defending Big Ten champion, and Michigan, which advanced to the Elite Eight in the 2013 NCAA tournament, round out the top five.
