PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Senior Welma Luus and junior Nataliya Bredikhina finished with a 1-2 record at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Competing in main draw doubles, the Maryland duo fell to Virginia's Julia Elbaba and Stephanie Nauta in the first rounds, 6-1, 6-0.
Dropped into the consolation section, Luus and Bredikhina triumphed in a thriller over Natalie Beazant and Liat Zimmerman of Rice, 4-6, 7-6, 10-7. The pair subsequently dropped a 6-0, 4-6, 10-4 decision to Florida's Josie Kuhlman and Brianna Morgan.
The Terps will retake the court at the ITA Regional Championships, scheduled to take place from Oct. 16-20 in Blacksburg, Va.
