ATLANTA – Sophomore Lexie Brown was named to the Naismith Trophy Women's 50 Watch List Wednesday. She is one of seven Big Ten players named to the list.
The Atlanta Tipoff Club administers the Naismith Awards, which are some of the most prestigious national honors in all of college basketball. Named in honor of Dr. James Naismith, inventor of the game of basketball, the Naismith Trophy presented by AT&T recognizes the top Men's and Women's College Basketball Players of the Year.
Brown is averaging 11.9 points per game for the Terrapins (7-2) and is among the Big Ten leaders in steals with 2.3 per contest. She's shooting over 43 percent from the field and 40.5 percent from outside the arc. Last month, she was named to the Wooden Award Preseason Top 30.
In her rookie season, Brown averaged 10.1 points per game and 4.2 assists. She shot 43 percent from the field in 30 starts on the year. She was named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Watch List last season as a freshman and the All-ACC Freshmen Team. Her performance in the Terps' run to the NCAA Final Four earned her a spot on the All-Regional Team in Louisville.

The Terrapins will host American (3-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. at XFINITY Center. Friday is Hometown Heroes Night and local law enforcement personnel, firefighters, EMTs, and other first responders can claim a complimentary general admission ticket with a valid ID.
Fans are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped children's toys to donate to Toys for Tots benefiting underprivileged youth in the local community.
