MESA, Ariz. - The Maryland women's golf team finished in 12th place Sunday at the Clover Cup, its second tournament of the spring season.

The Terps shot a total score of 922 (310-300-312) over the three-day tournament. In the third round Sunday, the Terps were led by Juliet Vongphoumy, who shot two-over par (74) and finished the tournament tied for seventh place. She was consistent in all three rounds, shooting a total score of 221 (74-73-74).

“Juliet had a good tournament this week,” said Coach Tiffany Prats. “She adapted very well to the golf course and hit a lot of really quality shots.”

Heidi Baek finished in 20th place after shooting six-over par (78) in the final round. Her three round score was 224 (77-69-78). Emily Gimpel followed behind Baek finishing tied for 67th place after shooting a total score of 238 (80-81-77) for the tournament. Gimpel had her best round of the tournament in round three, shooting five-over par (77).

Jessica Gregory and Alexandria Papell rounded out the group. They both finished with a score of 244 for the tournament and finished in 78th place for the tournament. Gregory shot an 83 and Papell shot an 86 in the final round.

“As a team we hit a lot of good shots, but our short game and course management was a little off,” Prats said. “We will be working on that this week before the Briar Creek Invitational.”

Louisville won the tournament with a three round score of 888.

Maryland will continue its spring season March 24 at the Briar's Creek Invitational.
