COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After a successful inaugural summer in 2014, head coach Steve Aird and the Maryland Volleyball program announced dates for the 2015 Maryland Volleyball Camps series.
“I am excited and proud to announce our camp and clinic dates for 2015,” said Aird. “Our camp series continues to do what we set out to do – help players improve their game and enjoy the sport they love. Our staff is committed to helping grow the game in the DMV, and we look forward to building relationships with players and coaches again this year.”
The camps kick off with the spring middle school clinic, which will take place from Feb. 2 to March 9. A spring coaches clinic will take place on March 28, and will show a behind-the-scenes look at training and coaching to compete in the Big Ten.
The summer series features six camps on the University of Maryland campus, including an individual skills camp (July 10-12), two sessions of youth day camp (July 13-14, July 21-22), two sessions of high school day camp (July 15-16, July 23-24) and high school team camp (July 17-19). Satellite camps are also available for interested parties.
Aird and the rest of the staff will provide opportunities for athletes of all ages and skill levels. The individual camps will focus on teaching fundamentals and helping players gain confidence in their game, while the team camps will focus on team training and systems.
The camps will feature an exceptional staff, world-class facilities, air-conditioned dorms and great dining options. Camps will be hosted at the XFINITY Center – one of the nation's premier athletic facilities, and home to the Terrapins.
The staff features Maryland volleyball assistant coaches Adam Hughes and Kristin Kenney and director of operations and camp director Stephen Yates. The coaching staff brings extensive coaching and playing experience from the Big Ten, ACC, AAC, Ivy League, Big East and Big West. Aird has played and coached at the highest collegiate level from more than 15 years, and won two national championships as an assistant at Penn State.
