Solomon Eye Terp of the Week: George Campbell

By: Eli Davis - Maryland Media Relations Student Assistant

Each week during the 2015-16 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is George Campbell of the Maryland men's soccer team.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Sophomore midfielder/forward George Campbell has been recognized as Solomon Eye Terp of the Week for his performance in the Maryland men's soccer team's victory against Penn State.

Campbell netted a hat trick against the Nittany Lions to secure a 4-3 win. With seconds remaining in the first half, the Baltimore, native redirected a corner kick to even the score 2-2.

The Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week picked up where he left off in the second half, notching goals in the 56th and 59th minutes.

“It was great to get the win,” Campbell said. “To come in here, start slow and be able to come back and beat a top-notch opponent like Penn State says a lot about our team. I was happy I was able to make an impact tonight.”

Jason Garey tallied Maryland's last hat trick on Sept. 18, 2005 against St. Bonaventure. Garey would go on to win the MAC Hermann Trophy.

The No. 18 Terps return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 20 when they host Delaware at Ludwig Field at 7 p.m. The game will be streamed live on BTN2Go.
