Terps Finish Season at Northwestern

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team finishes the 2015 season with a roadtrip to Northwestern Saturday.

• The Terps (14-19, 4-15 B1G) and Wildcats (14-16, 6-13) face off at 3 p.m. ET in the Welsh-Ryan Arena. The match will live streamed through Studio N ($). Follow the Terrapins on Twitter @TerpsVolleyball for updates.

• The Terps set season highs with 15 service aces and 16 total blocks as the Terrapins defeated Iowa, 3-1, Wednesday evening in the team's home finale.

• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott led the match with 20 kills and five service aces, tying a career high. With three solo blocks vs. the Hawkeyes, Elliott became the Maryland record holder in career solo blocks and is up to 99 as a Terp.

• Junior middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor led the match with eight blocks while junior setter Whitney Craigo made 45 assists. Senior defensive specialist Amy Dion and freshman libero Kelsey Wicinski each tallied 11 digs. MacGregor, Dion, Craigo, Wicinski and Abigail Bentz each served two aces.

Scouting the northwestern wildcats

• The Wildcats fell in three sets at Penn State Wednesday. With the loss, Northwestern will be ineligible to compete in the NCAA Tournament.

• Symone Abbott leads the Wildcat offense with 3.60 kills per set. Taylor Tashima is averaging 10.83 assists per set, good for sixth in the conference. Maddie Slater ranks eight in the Big Ten with a .342 hitting percentage.

• Northwestern swept the Terps in the first weekend of conference play on Sept. 26.

elliott becomes maryland record holder

• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott recorded three solo blocks against Iowa Wednesday, surpassing a 20-year-old record and becoming the program record holder in career solo blocks. Elliott now has 99 career solo blocks entering the final match of her collegiate career.

• Elliott is also in the top-10 of five other Maryland career categories, including kills, total attack attempts, hitting percentage, block assists and total blocks.

all about that ace

• The Terps have proven one of the best in the Big Ten in serving, posting 1.44 service aces per set. Maryland has 171 total service aces on the season, 22 more than the next team.

• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott ranks seventh in the conference with 0.29 service aces on the season. All but two of Elliott's service aces have come in conference play, and she is averaging a Big Ten-best 0.49 aces per set in 19 conference matches.

• Five Terps are averaging at least 0.20 service aces per set: Elliott (0.29), Kelsey Wicinski (0.24), Abigail Bentz (0.22), Amy Dion (0.21) and Ashlyn MacGregor (0.20).

terps face tough road

• The Terrapins have played 14 matches against teams ranked the AVCA Coaches Poll, marking Maryland's toughest schedule in history.

• The Terps are coming off a streak of seven consecutive ranked foes, including five top-10 opponents. Maryland took sets off four teams in that streak and upset then-No. 12 Ohio State on Nov. 6 in straight sets.

• Seven Big Ten teams are ranked in the latest AVCA Coaches poll, including three top 10 teams.

elliott, dion reach career milestones

• Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott posted her 1,000 career kill against Morgan State in the Terps' season opener vs. Morgan State. Elliott ranks sixth all-time in Maryland history with 1,255 career kills.

• Senior DS/libero Amy Dion reached the 1,000 digs mark at Oklahoma. Dion currently ranks ninth all-time in the Maryland record books with 1,093 digs.

terps set xfinity center pavilion attendance record

• Maryland set a new XFINITY Center Pavilion attendance record with 1,752 fans as the Terps fell to No. 9 Illinois last Friday.

• The previous attendance record was set on Sept. 16, 2006. The new attendance record ranks fourth in Maryland history.

• Since Steve Aird became head coach prior to the 2014 season, the Terps have set five of the top-10 attendance records in program history.

maryland Surpasses 2014 win total

• With a win over Rutgers, Maryland reached 11 wins on the season, passing last season's 10 wins.

• Maryland began the 2015 season with nine straight wins, marking the team's best start to a season since 2005.

• The Terps opened the season with three straight-set wins for the first time since 1997.
