Terps Participate in Wreaths Across America Day

ARLINGTON, Va. Members of the Maryland women's soccer team traveled to Arlington National Cemetery to lay wreaths in conjunction with National Wreaths Across America Day Saturday morning.

The ceremony was organized by Wreaths Across America, whose mission is to remember veterans through the ceremony at Arlington and similar ones across the country each December.

“It's always important to express our gratitude for everything we are fortunate to be a part of and have, especially at this time of year,” interim head coach Kevin Dempsey said. “We felt it would be an honor to be involved in an event where we could pay our respects to so many who served our country. Many made the ultimate sacrifice. This is a very small way for us to show our appreciation.”

The Maryland women's soccer team finished its season in October and placed 14 student-athletes on the academic All-Big Ten team.
