AIKEN, S.C. - The Maryland men's golf team finished 9th out of 18 teams at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tuesday at the Palmetto Golf Course in Aiken, S.C.
Freshmen David Kocher and Joe Brooks led the Terrapins on the leaderboard. Kocher wound up tied for 24th after shooting a three-over 73 Tuesday. His combined score of 211 (73-65-73) was one-over on the week.
Brooks went two-over with a 72 Tuesday to finish tied for 31st with a score of 214 (76-66-72).
"I think we got off to a decent start in our first event of the spring," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "The weather so far has not been kind to us. We're playing catch up with the southern schools this time of year. Our stats from this event reflect our lack of reps. We got it going in the second and third rounds but weren't able to finish them off."
"As for individual performances, I'm certainly happy with our freshmen. Both David and Joe had solid weeks. This was Joe's first event of the year for us and he certainly gave us a boost this week. We'll be able to go on a spring break trip to help us get ready for our next event at William and Mary.
Junior Tom Harris shot a 74 in the third round. He earned a combined score of 216 (69-73-74).
Senior Connor Tendall had the strongest final round of the Terps, shooting an even-70 Tuesday. Tendall earned a combined score of 217 (71-76-70) on the tournament.
Sophomore Victor Fox took a few strokes off his rounds Monday, shooting a 77 Tuesday. He had a score of 236 (80-79-77).
Next, the Terrapins will play in the Middleburg Bank Invitational March 22-24 at the Kingsmill Resort in Kingsmill, Va.
