BALTIMORE - After scoring nine goals in two wins last week, Megan Whittle was named the National Freshman of the Week by ILWomen.com  the publication announced Tuesday.

Whittle was named the Freshman of the Week after breaking out with six goals in a 17-2 win over Towson last Wednesday. Her six tallies came on seven shots, and she also grabbed a ground ball in the contest.

In a 16-6 win over No. 6 Gators, Whittle recorded her fourth hat trick of the season. She has recorded multiple-goal games in all but one contest this season.

Whittle is second on the team with 21 goals and 22 points this year.

The No. 1 Terps (7-0) host No. 11 Penn (6-0) Wednesday at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network.
