Ikeda Nabs Fourth Player of the Week Honor

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior defender Casey Ikeda has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season after leading the No. 3 Maryland men's lacrosse team (9-1, 2-0 B1G) to a 12-5 victory over Penn State Saturday.

The Terrapins have captured Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors seven out of eight weeks this season.

The Tewaaraton Award Watch List member anchored the nation's best defense with a ground ball and two caused turnovers. Ikeda also led the charge on two transition goals against the Nittany Lions, dishing one assist in the process.

Ikeda and the Terrapin defense are currently on pace to have the second-best defensive season in the history of NCAA-era lacrosse, allowing just 4.80 goals per game.

The 3rd-ranked Terps next face No. 19 Loyola (Md.) this Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium.
