COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland head coach Jonathan Morgan released the 2015 women's soccer schedule Thursday. The Terps will face another competitive campaign as the team faces four programs ranked at the end of 2014.
“We're very pleased with the schedule we were able to put together for this fall,” Morgan said. “It presents great challenges for our players and many exciting games for our fans. It's our expectation to be in the NCAA tournament so between our nonconference and conference schedules, we'll be prepared to make a run in the tournament.”
After an exhibition match at Virginia on Aug. 17, the Terrapins kick off the season with a four-game home stand against Kent State, Navy, West Virginia and La Salle. Maryland travels to Texas for a two-game road stint at Texas Christian and Southern Methodist on Sept. 4 and 6.
The Terps return to College Park to face James Madison and Yale and close the nonconference schedule. The team opens Big Ten play against Rutgers on Sept. 18.
Maryland travels to Northwestern and Illinois on Sept. 24 and 27 before taking on Michigan and Michigan State at Ludwig Field on Oct. 1 and 4.
The Terrapins take a three-match road swing to Penn State, Ohio State and Indiana from Oct. 8-15. Maryland faces Purdue in College Park on Oct. 18 before closing its home season on Oct. 24 against Wisconsin. The Terps finish the 2015 regular season at Nebraska on Oct. 28.
The Big Ten Tournament begins Nov. 1 at campus sites before continuing Nov. 6-8 at the highest remaining seed. The 2015 NCAA Tournament begins Nov. 12-14 with the first four rounds held at campus sites. The Women's College Cup will be played in Cary, N.C., on Dec. 4 and 6.
