COLLEGE PARK Md. - The Maryland men's soccer team wrapped up its preseason slate with a 3-1 victory over Providence Saturday at Ludwig Field.
A trio of rookies provided the scoring power for the Terps with goals from Sebastian Elney, Paul Bin and Jorge Calix.
After a scoreless first half, Elney kicked off the scoring with a close-range tally off assists from Eryk Williamson and Chris Odoi-Atsem for a 1-0 Terrapin lead with 1:53 elapsed in the second period.
Following a Providence goal in the 64th minute, Bin one-touched the Terps' second goal of the match in the 74th minute. Michael Sauers picked up the assist.
Calix provided Maryland an insurance goal with his tally off an assist from classmate Connor Smith in the 82nd minute for a 3-1 final.
The Terps – for the third straight match – held a decisive shot advantage, 15-4.
Maryland travels to Bloomington, Ind., for matches against Notre Dame and St. John's next weekend.
