BRISTOL, Conn. – The Maryland women's basketball team will play a Big Ten conference matchup on ESPN2's Big Monday series this season. The Terrapins' matchup at Ohio State at 9 p.m. on Feb. 8 will be shown around the world on ESPN2 as one of 11 games selected.
Entering its 10th season, ESPN2's Big Monday series – showcasing seven-weeks of top caliber women's college basketball games – begins January 18 with a strong schedule of teams ranked in espnW.com Way-too-early Top 25 poll. The Terrapins are ranked fourth in the poll, with the Buckeyes at No. 13.
The series, which includes four doubleheaders, also features 15 ranked teams, the top seven programs, six 2014-15 All-Americans and a grouping of the top incoming freshmen in the country.
All Big Monday telecasts will be streamed live on WatchESPN, accessible on computers, smartphones, tablets and connected devices to fans who receive their video subscription from an affiliated provider.
Maryland went 18-0 in Big Ten play in its first year in the league last year. Head coach Brenda Frese was named Big Ten Coach of the Year for the second time in her career, while juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough both earned All-Big Ten First Team honors. The Terrapins beat Ohio State, 77-74, in the Big Ten Championship game to sweep the regular season and tournament titles.
Top-seeded Maryland went on to knock off undefeated Princeton in the NCAA Second Round. The Terrapins advanced to the Spokane Regional, where they beat Duke in the Sweet Sixteen, then second-seeded Tennessee in the Elite Eight to head to the Final Four in Tampa, Fla.
