WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A late second half goal lifted Purdue over the Maryland women's soccer team, 1-0, Thursday night at Folk Field.

The Terrapins (3-12-1, 1-7-0 Big Ten) had a few solid opportunities to tally against the Boilermakers, but were unable to find the back of the yet. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Egyed had a solid night between the sticks and finished with four saves.

Maryland's first opportunity came in the 11th minute when freshman Jlon Flippens whipped in a corner that sophomore Jarena Harmon headed just wide of the left post. Maryland then withstood a solid period of Purdue pressure before Harmon sent a half chance over the top of the bar in the 29th minute.

Junior Chelsea Jackson found some space in the box in the 30th minute, but her shot was saved by Jordan Ginther.

In the second half, Maryland's best chance came when Flippens turned nicely in the box and sent a shot that Ginther was just able to palm away. Egyed returned the favor with a fantastic diving stop on a Dagny Olson right to the right post.

Dannah Williams gave the Boilermakers the victory when she tapped the ball in after a scramble in the box following a Purdue corner.

Maryland returns to action against Indiana at Ludwig Field on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. The game is Senior Day, with Maryland's senior class honored before the match.
