COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland volleyball team (10-16, 2-12 B1G) hosts No. 10 Penn State (18-7, 10-4) and Rutgers this weekend in the XFINITY Center Pavilion.

• The Terps and Nittany Lions will compete on Friday at 8 p.m. on BTN Plus in Maryland's Dig Pink match. The match is sold out, and a limited number of tickets for Maryland staff and students will be available at the door.

• Maryland hosts Rutgers on Sunday at noon on BTN Plus.

• Due to concurrent basketball games on the main court, the Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for both Friday's and Sunday's matches. To view the policy, click here.

FRiday information

• Maryland men's basketball hosts its home opener vs. American on Friday at 7 p.m. All parking lots surrounding XFINITY will require basketball parking permits. Volleyball fans are encouraged to arrive early and park in Regents Drive Garage or Lot 1. Parking passes for Regents Drive can be purchased online ahead of time for $15. Lot 1 parking is free. Free parking lot shuttles will be provided for an hour before the match, during the match and for 30 minutes following the match. Fans can enter XFINITY through Gate D.

• No tickets remain for Friday's match.

• Friday is Maryland's Dig Pink match, and the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a pink pom pom. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to support breast cancer awareness and donate at ter.ps/digpink16. Exclusive Maryland volleyball Dig Pink shirts can be purchased here.

Sunday information

• Maryland women's basketball hosts its home opener on Sunday at 1 p.m. All parking lots around XFINITY will be open.

• Sunday is Hometown Heroes Day. Police, firefighters and EMTs will receive complimentary admission with valid ID. Fans who bring their tickets to Saturday's football game vs. Ohio State will receive free admission on Sunday.

• Fans can purchase a Buddy Pack ahead of Sunday and receive two tickets, two sodas and two small popcorns for just $15.

• The Terps will sign autographs following Sunday's match.

last time out

• Freshman outside hitter Gia Milana posted 17 kills as the Terps fell to No. 2 Minnesota last Sunday in the Pavilion.

• Down 2-0 at the intermission, the Terps battled in the third set, taking the lead twice and coming up just short, 25-22.

Scouting the penn state nittany lions

• The Nittany Lions fell to No. 1 Nebraska in five sets before sweeping Iowa last week.

• Middle blocker Haleigh Washington leads the Big Ten with a .444 hitting percentage while outside hitter Simone Lee leads the conference wtih 4.25 kills per set. Washington is second on the team with 2.38 kills per set.

• Setter Abby Detering leads Penn State with 10.13 assists per set and 0.30 service aces per set. Libero Kendall White has the team lead with 3.93 digs per set.

• Last season, the Terps took a set off then-No. 1 Penn State in College Park on Nov. 5 before falling in straight sets to the Nittany Lions in State College on Nov. 21.

Scouting the rutgers scarlet knights

• The Scarlet Knights fell to Iowa and No. 1 Nebraska in straight sets last week.

• Outside hitter Meme Fletcher leads Rutgers with 2.58 kills per set while Lauren Cloyd is second on the team with 2.21 kills per set.

• Middle blocker Mikaela Matthews leads the Scarlet Knights with 1.18 blocks per set and middle blocker Jasmine Stackhouse is averaging 1.13 blocks per set.

• The Terps swept Rutgers on Oct. 22 in Piscataway, N.J.

Milana mania

• Freshman outside hitter Gia Milana, the No. 16 recruit in her class, has made an immediate impact for the Terps.

• A six-rotation player, Milana currently leads the Terps and ranks fourth in the Big Ten with 3.99 kills per set. Milana is also second on the team with 2.31 digs per set.

• In conference games, the Romeo, Mich., native ranks fourth with 4.02 kills per set.

• Milana leads the Big Ten freshmen in kills per set and ranks seventh amongst conference newcomers in digs per set.

Macgregor impresses in the middle

• Senior middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor has stepped up in her final season as a Terp. She currently ranks 18th in the nation with 1.43 blocks per set and is 16th nationally with 133 total blocks.

• MacGregor made a career-high 14 blocks in the team's win over Sacred Heart (8/27). The Tarpon Springs, Fla., native was named to three all-tournament teams in nonconference play, and was named Maryland's first-ever Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week on August 29.

• MacGregor also leads the team with a .301 hitting percentage.

wicinski steps up as back-row leader

• Sophomore Kelsey Wicinski, who earned the libero jersey halfway through her freshman season, has stepped up as one of Maryland's defensive leaders.

• The Geneva, Ill., native leads the team and is third in the Big Ten with 4.28 digs per set. She set a new career high with 28 digs vs. Oklahoma (9/16).

• Wicinski was named to all four nonconference all-tournament teams, and was selected as the Maryland Invite MVP.

• K-Wiz leads the Terps with 0.25 service aces per set.

Terps Rising

• The Maryland volleyball team welcomes the 16th-ranked freshman class in the nation this fall, the first time in program history the Terps have a ranked recruiting class.

• Outside hitter Gia Milana was ranked as the No. 15 player in her class by PrepVolleyball, the highest ranked recruit in Maryland history. Middle blocker Katie Myers ranked No. 62, and the duo were also named to Volleyball Magazine's Fab 50 list. Milana is Maryland's first-ever Under Armour First Team All-American while Myers was named a Third Team All-American.

• The 2015 Maryland Gatorade Player of the Year outside hitter Megan McTigue joins the Terps, as well as setter Taylor Smith, mentioned in PrepVolleyball's 'The 150'. Defensive specialist Nell Drummey and outside hitter Aylin Saran bring international experience to Maryland.

• The Terps have five players on the roster from the DMV (DC, Maryland, Virginia): junior middle blocker Hailey Murray (Washington, D.C.), junior defensive specialist Samantha Higginbothem (Middletown, Md.), sophomore outside hitter Liz Twilley (Ijamsville, Md.), freshman defensive specialist Nell Drummey (Silver Spring, Md.) and freshman outside hitter Megan McTigue (Darnestown, Md.).

• The Terrapins feature the last two Maryland Gatorade Players of the Year in Twilley and McTigue.

• Murray, Higginbothem, Drummey and McTigue all played club for Metro American Volleyball Club. McTigue and Drummey were high school teammates at Academy of Holy Cross.

Maryland announces 2016 broadcast schedule

• The Terps have released its 2016 broadcast and streaming schedule, with the Terps slated to have at least 16 matches featured on Big Ten Network platforms.

• The Terrapins will compete on the Big Ten Network twice, including hosting Ohio State on Oct. 26 and at Purdue on Nov. 2.

terps face tough road

• Maryland competes in 17 matches against 12 teams ranked in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll this season. All but three of Maryland's conference matches have been played against teams ranked or receiving votes in the AVCA Coaches Poll.

• The Terps take on three of the top-five teams and six of the top-10.

• Six of Maryland's conference opponents are currently ranked, including No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 Minnesota, No. 3 Wisconsin, No. 11 Penn State, No. 15 Michigan State and No. 17 Michigan. Purdue, Ohio State and Illinois are all receiving votes in the latest poll.
