#3 Terps to Take SWK Home for Matchup

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The third-ranked Maryland women's basketball team (11-0) will take senior All-American Shatori Walker-Kimbrough home to the Pittsburgh area this week with a matchup at Duquesne (6-6) Wednesday night.

The Terps and the Dukes will tip off at 7 p.m. at the A.J. Palumbo Center. A free live stream is available here. Live stats will be available and updates will be posted to the Terrapins' Twitter feed here. This is Maryland's first matchup with Duquesne.

Walker-Kimbrough grew up in Aliquippa, Pa., which is roughly 30 miles from downtown Pittsburgh. The Terrapins will visit with her family Tuesday night.

As a senior at Hopewell High School, Walker-Kimbrough averaged 28.3 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.8 steals as a senior in 2012-13 and owns the school's scoring record. She was named the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Player of the Year as a junior and senior and the overall Athlete of the Year by the Pittsburgh Tribune, Beaver County Times, and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She led her team to the WPIAL Championship and the Pennsylvania 3-A State Semifinals as a junior.

Most recently, the Terps won at Loyola, 79-60, in Baltimore on Dec. 12. Brionna Jones led the way with 25 points, 14 rebounds and Walker-Kimbrough scored 17 points. Destiny Slocum added 9 points in the Terrapins' final game before the exam break.

Maryland is second in the country in scoring margin (37.2), rebounding margin (+18.7) and field goal percentage (51.6%). They are third in scoring (92.5) and steals per game (13.9). 

After the matchup in Pittsburgh, the Terps will head home for a break for the holidays. They will return home to host No. 1 Connecticut (9-0) at the XFINITY Center on Thursday, Dec. 29 at 6 p.m.

Parking will be available on the surface lots surrounding the XFINITY Center, as well as the Terrapin Trail Garage and the Regents Drive Garage. Fans are encouraged to follow the directions of traffic control staff, as traffic patterns may change. Click here for a campus parking map.

Fans with disability tags will be directed to park in the Terrapin Trail Garage, once the handicap parking spaces in the surface lots are full. Fans can enter the arena from the Terrapin Trail Garage through gates E and F.

The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a “Frese Fest” T-shirt at the door.All fans are encouraged to wear white to support the “White Out.” Doors will open to the public at 4:30 p.m.

Fans are reminded that a new clear bag policy will be in effect for all games at the XFINITY Center, including the Terps' matchup with Connecticut. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to decrease wait times. Fans will only be able to carry the following style and size bags into the arena.

-       Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”

-       One gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)

-       Small clutch bags, measuring 4.5” x 6.5” with or without a handle or strap

All other bags will not be permitted. A list of prohibited bags includes, but is not limited to: purses, backpacks, drawstring bags that are not clear, briefcases, coolers, fanny packs, luggage, computer bags, camera bags, binocular cases and diaper bags. The Terps-Huskies matchup will be televised around the world on ESPN2, WatchESPN.com and the Watch ESPN app.

The matchup can also be heard online through the Maryland Sports Network on 1300 AM in Baltimore and 570 AM in Washington.

The Terrapins are ranked No. 4 in the Associated Press poll and No. 3 in the USA Today Division I Coaches poll.
