EVANSTON, Ill.  – Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 27 points to lead No. 5 Maryland to a 79-70 win at Northwestern Sunday afternoon. The Maryland veterans combined for 70 points to lead the Terps (23-3, 12-2 B1G) to their ninth road win of the year.

Walker-Kimbrough went 10-15 from the floor, 3-4 from outside the arc with eight rebounds, four steals, three assists and two blocks. Senior Tierney Pfirman had 15 points off the bench and junior Brionna Jones scored 14 points.

Maryland shot 56 percent, compared to 34.3 percent for Northwestern (14-12, 3-11). The Terrapins held the Wildcats to 1-18 shooting from the field in taking a 25-5 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Maggie Lyon had 25 points for the Wildcats and Nia Coffey had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Ashley Deary finished with 11 points and nine assists

Lyon scored 17 points in the second half to help Northwestern cut a 10-point deficit to 65-60 with 5:34 to play. But Maryland replied with a pair of baskets from Jones and a three by Pfirman and the Wildcats never got closer than seven the rest of the way.

Redshirt senior Brene Moseley is at 949 career points and 392 career assists heading into Thursday's game. Jones and Walker-Kimbrough have played in 98 straight games.

Jones and Walker-Kimbrough are two of the top 34 players in the country named to the Naismith Midseason List Wednesday. Moseley is one of 10 candidates for the Nancy Lieberman Award, which is given to the nation's top point guard, and Kristen Confroy was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team.

Maryland is ranked No. 5 in the latest Associated Press poll and No. 7 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll.

Next, the Terrapins will return home to host Michigan (15-10, 7-7) Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Wednesday's game will be Maryland's annual Play4Kay Pink Game for breast cancer awareness.
