COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Each week during the 2015-16 season a Maryland student-athlete, who has shown excellence on and off the playing field, will be selected as the Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week. This week's Solomon Eye Associates Terp of the Week is Geoffrey Alexander of Maryland wrestling.
Alexander, the 16th ranked wrestler (Intermat Wrestling) nationwide at 133 pounds, had a big day for Terps on Sunday, February 14, going 2-0 which included a win over seventh ranked Ryan Taylor of Wisconsin. The redshirt senior nearly had the 2015 All-American pinned in the 1st period, but eventually grinded out an 8-6 upset victory over the Badger to remain unbeaten (6-0) in the Big Ten. Alexander also defeated George Mason's Ryan Renkey 11-8 in Maryland's Beauty and the Beast match in conjunction with Terps gymnastics.
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native is now 11-1 overall on the season and a perfect 8-0 in dual matches. Alexander and the rest of the Maryland wrestling team will wrap up the regular season this Saturday, February 20 at home against Rider for senior day.
