Terps to Partner with Play4TheCure on Feb. 28

COLLEGE PARK, Md.  – The sixth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team will partner with Play4TheCure for the Terps' Feb. 28 game vs. Minnesota at the XFINITY Center. Tipoff of the Maryland-Minnesota game is set for 5 p.m. ET and the game will be televised on ESPN2.

Play4TheCure is a fundraising platform for the National Foundation for Cancer Research which provides funding worldwide to the best scientists to enable cutting edge research that other large cancer organizations can't and won't fund. Play4TheCure inspires young athletes and their teams to leverage their passion for sports to “Play4” loved ones affected by cancer and encourages them to actively participate in working to fund cancer research to make a difference.

"There's so many great reasons to play and support this game and doing anything we can to help fight cancer is right at the top of the list,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “A lot of people know we had our own experience with one of our sons, which really opened our eyes and hearts to this critical cause. It's something that affects us all and a battle we have to continue until we win it. We want every family to have a happy ending."

As part of the event, cancer survivors may register to receive a complimentary general admission ticket to the game and participate in a pre-game survivors recognition. Survivors can click here to register.

There Goes My Hero will be on the concourse to add potential donors to the international bone marrow/ stem cell donor registry with a simple cheek swab. For many blood cancer patients, a matching donor found on the registry is the only hope of a cure.

Fans are encouraged to make a donation to the Terps' Play4theCure donation page to help the Terrapins reach their fundraising goal. Make a donation of $5 or more and present your donation receipt at the Ticket Office on game day to purchase general admission tickets for only $1.

Fans will have the opportunity to bid on Maryland memorabilia on the concourse beginning an hour before tip-off and running through the first half. All proceeds will benefit the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

For tickets, please click here or call the Terrapin Ticket Office at 1-800-IM-A-TERP.
