SWK Named a Wade Trophy Finalist

ATLANTA – Junior Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the Maryland women's basketball team was named one of 15 finalists for the The Wade Trophy, which is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding NCAA Division I women's basketball player by the Women's Basketball Coaches' Association.

The candidates were selected by a vote of The Wade Trophy committee members consisting of leading basketball coaches, journalists and administrators. The committee will select the winner of The Wade Trophy from among these 15 finalists who also are named to the 10-member WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America Team when it is chosen in April. The WBCA will officially announce The Wade Trophy winner during the WBCA Convention, held in conjunction with the NCAA® Women's Final Four® in Indianapolis.

Walker-Kimbrough led the Terps in scoring and was second in rebounding. Walker-Kimbrough averaged 19.5 points with 6.0 rebounds, while leading the NCAA with her three-point field goal percentage of 54.5 percent. Her 681 points scored this season were the second-highest season point total in program history.

She was also named to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the coaches and the media and to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team. She was voted Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

The trio helped lead the Terrapins to a 31-4 record, reaching 30 wins for the sixth time in head coach Brenda Frese's 14 seasons. They made their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and won their second straight back-to-back Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.
