LOCKHAVEN, Pa. -- Redshirt junior Alfred Bannister earned a first place finish in the 149 pound division at the Mat Town Open on Sunday. Bannister's finish is his second placing of the season. He previously placed second at the Princeton Tigers Open. 

The La Plata, Maryland, native went 3-0 en route to the top overall finish, with each of his wins coming by way of fall. Bannister won all three of his bouts in the first period, with two of the wins coming in under 32 seconds. His championship match against Jake Keating of Virginia was sealed with a pin just 31 seconds into the match. 

Maryland also received solid performances from freshmen Braeden Alevizatos, who came in third place in the 133-pound bracket, Hunter Baxter, who placed fourth at 141 pounds, and Kyle Jasenski, who placed fourth in the 174 pound division. 

The Terps will be back in action on Saturday, Dec. 2 when they travel to Northwestern for a Big Ten dual match. The match will begin at 2 p.m.
