ATLANTA – Senior Brionna Jones of the fourth-ranked Maryland women's basketball team was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Women's College Player of the Year the Atlanta Tip-Off Club announced Thursday.
Jones, and teammate Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, were unanimous selections to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the league's head coaches and media panel. This is the third straight First Team honor for both and both were also named to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team.
Jones is averaging 19.3 points and a league-leading 10.7 rebounds per game this season. She is also leading the country with her field goal percentage of 69 percent, which is currently a Big Ten record. Jones has scored in double figures in 28 straight games this season and has notched a conference-best 20 double-doubles. She has earned a Big Ten weekly award in 10 of 14 weeks this season and has also earned ESPNW and Naismith National Player of the Week honors.
Jones is tied with Marissa Coleman for No. 3 in rebounding in the Maryland record books with 1,139 career boards. She is No. 8 on Maryland's scoring list with 1,792 career points.

The Big Ten co-champion Terrapins will be the No. 2 seed in the Big Ten Tournament this weekend at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. After clinching a double-bye the Terps will open their tournament run Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

Maryland (27-2, 15-1 B1G) will play the winner of seventh-seeded Penn State (19-9, 9-7) and 10th-seeded Minnesota (14-15, 5-11). The Friday night contest will be televised around the world on the Big Ten Network, the BTN2Go app and BTN2Go.com.
With a win Friday night, the Terrapins will play in Saturday's Semifinals at approximately 6:30 p.m. ET.
