Jones, SWK Named AP All-Americans

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Seniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the third-seeded Maryland women's basketball team (32-3) were named Associated Press All-Americans Monday.

Jones earned First Team honors, along with Washington's Kelsey Plum, South Carolina's Aja Wilson and Connecticut's Katie Lou Samuelson and Napheesa Collier. Walker-Kimbrough made the Third Team for the second straight season.

Both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were named All-Region honorees by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association Thursday. They are nominees for the WBCA's All-America honors, which will be announced at the Final Four in Dallas this weekend.

Jones led the Terrapins in scoring and rebounding with 19.9 points and 10.9 boards per game. Her 697 points this season set a school record for points in a season. She led the nation in field goal percentage at 69.0 percent for the second straight year.

Walker-Kimbrough averaged 18.8 points per game while shooting 45.0 percent. She also had 125 assists. Walker-Kimbrough is No. 4 on Maryland's all-time scoring list with 2,156 career points. Her career three-point percentage of 45.9 percent is the best in Maryland history, ahead of Toliver's 40.8 percent, and is a Big Ten record.

Jones' career field goal percentage of 65.0 percent is a Big Ten record as well. She is No. 3 on Maryland's rebounding list with 1,209 career boards and tied Vicky Bullet for No. 5 on Maryland's scoring list with 1,928 points.

Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were two of 14 players in the country named to the Wooden Award National Ballot and two of 10 ESPNW All-Americans. Jones is one of 10 semifinalists for the Naismith Trophy. They have earned a record of 125-17 (.880) in their careers.

They led the Terrapins to three Big Ten regular season and tournament titles, the 2014 and 2015 Final Fours and the 2017 Sweet Sixteen.
