COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team will face Northwestern in quarterfinal action of the 2017 Big Ten Tournament Friday at 9 p.m. at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

• Maryland enters the 2017 Big Ten Men's Basketball Tournament as the No. 3 seed after defeating Michigan State on a Melo Trimble game-winning three-pointer with 1.1 seconds to go last Saturday in the regular season finale at XFINITY Center.
• Since joining the Big Ten in 2014, the Terps have boasted a third seed or better each season. The Terps have fallen to Michigan State in semifinal action in their two previous trips to the Big Ten Tournament.
• Melo Trimble was named a First Team All-Big Ten selection on Monday. Trimble joined Purdue's Caleb Swanigan as a unanimous pick on the coaches' poll. Trimble was a second team selection last season after earning first team media and second team coaches honors as a freshman in the 2014-15 season. Trimble notched his 29th double-figure scoring performance of the season vs. Michigan State and his 20th consecutive. The junior guard now sits at No. 13 with 1,625 points. Trimble is one of 15 Terps to earn all-conference recognition three times and the first player to do so since Greivis Vasquez.
• Maryland's sensational freshman class continues to shine. Anthony Cowan boasts a team-high 38 steals and is eighth all-time in single season assists (116) for a freshman at Maryland. Justin Jackson leads the Terps on the glass, averaging 6.2 rebounds per game, and is seventh all-time in single season rebounds (193) for a freshman at Maryland, topping 2016 Associated Press Big Ten Freshman of the Year Diamond Stone (187). In addition, fellow rookie Kevin Huerter has started all 31 games for the Terps.
• Head coach Mark Turgeon has guided the Terps to three consecutive 24-plus win regular season performances. He is the first coach in Maryland men's basketball history to lead three teams to 24 or more victories in the regular season.
• Since joining the Big Ten Conference for the 2014-15 season, Maryland leads all conference schools with a .775 overall winning percentage. The Terps are 79-23 overall, including a 38-16 mark in league play. Wisconsin ranks second behind the Terps in winning percentage since 2014-15 at .766 (82-25).
